Translator Post

Hello everybody!! I am María García and this week my role is "Translator".
I hope my post could clarify any misconception!!

Energy: Energy is the ability of make change as you need a change on energy in order to cook. There are two types depending on from where it comes. So it can be renewable (sun, wind or water) or non-renewable (coal, oil, gas).

Oral presentation: An oral presentation is an exposition  for some people who are your public which are going to listen to what you are saying. It usually has three parts, introduction, main body and conclusion. In addition, it is important for doing a good oral presentation, to take away your nervousness by practicing it once and again.

Visual presentation: a visual presentation is the perfect way to help your audience follow your explanations or a better understanding of them by visual images, graphics, etc. It must emphasize in the most relevant data. For doing  a good one, you can read some tips to do that as for example: do not use to much words, just necessary.
" For presentation purposes, the facts to be presented are fixed a priori, and the choice of the appropriate presentation technique depends largely on the user. The aim is to efficiently and effectively communicate the results of an analysis." [Keim et al., 2006]

Creative Commons: It is a type of license, non-profit. Users can search their website (for example: Flickr, Jamendo, etc ) without making a registration. Content as videos, photographs, images, music etc which can be used legally due to the type of license that it possess
There are six categories of licenses offered: attribution, attribution-noderivs, attribution-noncommercial-sharealike, attribution-sharealike, attribution-noncommercial, attribution-noncommercial-no derives.
Storyboard: It is a visual graphic which consist on show what you are going to put in your presentation, it can be done by images, drawings, illustrations, etc. It is very useful to organize your ideas and keep it clear.

Work Post

The topic we chose for the oral exposition was about the resources of energies and this is the speech we prepare before the star´s exposition:

ENERGY.

·         What is energy?

Energy is the capacity bodies have to change or to produce changes so, for example, to light a bulb we need energy.

·         Where does energy come from?

Energy can come from different sources.

Some of them are renewable, that is, nearly inexhaustible, as sun, wind or water.

Other are non-renewable, that means they can be found on limited quantities and they will eventually run out as we use them, such as coal or oil

·         Which energy sources are renewable?

The energy coming from the sun, wind and water.

Light energy: is produced by the sun. It’s our main energy source since life in the Earth depend on it with solar panels we change solar energy into electricity energy.

Wind energy: is the energy moving air has when wind moves windmill’s sails it get transforms into electricity.

Hydraulic energy: is the one provided by water in movement. The water kept in reservoirs is used to generate electricity on power stations.

·         Which energy sources are non-renewable? Coal, oil and gas.

Coal: is a black rock made up of plants and trees died millions of years ago. Coal can be found under the Earth’s surface and to obtain it we dig mines. When it got burnt neat is send at.

Oil: is a dark liquid made up died little organism which used to live under the sea millions of years ago. Oil can be found on big oil wells to obtain it.

Natural gas: as oil, it can be found on national deposits. A great quantity of heat is produce when natural gas gets burnt. It’s actually used at home to cook.

Using non-renewable energy sources causes pollution and can harm the environment, meanwhile, renewable energy sources cause less pollution.

·         What can we do to save energy and reduce pollution?

We can help from our homes:

Turning off the lights when we leave our room or another room with nobody in it.

Not leaving fridge’s door too much time opened, because inside products get less cold and fridge waste move energy.

Here you have the storyboard we made in order to do a good slideshow and the slideshow we did about energy:

    http://www.slideshare.net/ThePowerPuffTeachers/energies-45396022

Besides, we had to look for information about Creative Commons license and we had to do a slideshow about what is Creative Commons:

     http://www.slideshare.net/ThePowerPuffTeachers/slideshow-45399325

On the other hand, this week all of us had to be ready to listen for our classmates and we has the opportunity to learned lots of things:
First of all, we need to be more close to our students, and explain everything in an easy way so that the syllabus could be as a game for them (as BusyBees did).
Also, it is really important not to fulfil the slides with lots of information but do it with pictures so information can be internalised. When we use images it is important to write who did the photo (what it easy with creative common).
In a nutshell, we had learned lots of things with our own mistakes but also with the ones of our mates. Now it is time to be more efficient in the next task.

Lots of love!

STAR POST

Hello! I’m Mari Carmen and this third week I’ve been in charge of star role.

For this week we’ve been asked to do a four-minutes exposition pretending to be teacher of a primary school class. In order to do our presentation we must use Creative Common Licence's images, which respect copyrights, and follow some basic tips about how oral expositions and presentations should be done.

At first, when we divided the roles for this week and I knew I was the star, I had felt really pressured. I had to do my best so that all the work done along the week were properly shown. I’m a quite shy person and it has been really hard for me to be enough confident of myself to display our work to the class.

I’m very grateful of the cheers and smiles of my class and group mates. They helped me a lot and were very supporting, above all when I was talking to such a big audience. I was trying to explain the energy and it sources and suddenly I glanced people on the first row with that support face that I love.

Even if I speak in a boring, low tone and I don’t move around the class that much, I have liked so much this week project, in special, the part of trying to explain a subject to a primary class. Because that what we are here for, to become teachers one day, and those four minutes will be our day-to-day life. And I really appreciate the comments to improve my expositions that my teacher and classmates suggest me. Thank you all very much.

See you next week :)

Analyst Post

Hello everybody!!

My name is Julia and I am the analyst this week. I think this role is a very hard one because I have to evaluate my partners and be focus on what they are doing all the time.

This task we have been working this week was about several things. It taught us what Creative Commons Licenses is and how to prepare an oral presentation.

The best part of this activity was learning about licenses and how we have to use them. It is really importat that we all know what kind of pictures we can use. We also have learnt how to do a presentation and that could help us in every presentation we would have to do in our future.

The worst part of the activity was when we went to show the presentation to the teacher, and, even though we thought it was finished and perfect, she told us that we have to change a lot of things, that made us repeat the slideshow again.

The best moment of the week was when we finish all the work, and even though we had to do it again, in my opinion, ours was one of the best presentation of the class.

The worst moment of the week was the instance when the star told us that she had made her own speech and we had to change some little things of the presentation.

Thanks to this task we have learnt that not everything we use for our presentations or our own is free to use, so we have to be careful and repectful with the authors of the pictures that we choose. We also have learnt how to make a good presentation in order to be successful and not boring.

Even though we did not do it well at first, we have learnt how to divide our work, this is very important in a group, so I think this is something that we should maintain every week.

But I think that we have a little problem with the communication, but nothing that we cannot remedy over time.

I expect the problems to be solved, and the work to be well done in the next tasks.

Julia.

Lucia as a... Curator- Farmer !!

Hi guys, I'm Lucia and this week I'm the Curator -Farmer of the group ThePowerPuffTeachers.
To organize the references of all the contents dealt this week, first, I collected information sources in apa style, and then I organized all the information and images that we used in the Pearltrees.
The Pearltrees is divided into three sections: Tips for Developing a good presentation, creative commons, and energy.
In each of the sections is found the information, images and videos that we used to understand and make our power point. In the section of energy, different energy resources we dealt with at our work with these references we prepare our fourth grade lesson about energy . Also we have helped a lot of fourth grade book.

Pearltrees:
My opinion about my role this week is that it is harder than it looks. At first, I thought that only would have to write all what we wanted and that's it. But when I did it, I realized what I really had to do was organize all the selected information and references, jolting which was not useful to us . At first, it was chaos as they were many sources of information, but I gradually organizing it.
I think my role is very important in tasks like this, because the organization of a good team is essential.
Hope you like bloggers, and thank you for your attention.
Lucía.

WITH CAMERA IN HAND

Hello everybody!
I am Carmen Carpena and this week I am the journalist of the group ThePowerPuffTeachers and I am going to explain all the things we did.
First at all, in Monday morning, we distributed the roles after the expositions. Tuesday evening we met at Lucia's house and we were working on the different PowerPoints we had to do and we were reading how to do a good presentation too.
We had already done almost all the PowerPoints when we realized that we had done it bad because we had not used images with Creative Commons Licence, so we had to repeat some slides we had done with new images.
Everything was perfect but we realized that we had not done the work well again and we had to resolve it on Sunday.
Although this work has been a bit chaotic we had achieved to expose it well and we are very proud of ourselves.
With this work I have learnt some interesting things that I didn't know like if I want a photo, I have to download it from a page that has image with Creative Commons Licence.
From my point of view, I really enjoyed this role because, while I was working I was taking photos of all my colleages and some photos were really funny.
Here I enclose some photos working and of the expositions.
I hope you enjoy the photos and the blog! See you soon!

The best collaborator will be the best facilitator.

Hello bloggers! I am really glad to see you again. This week I had to be the facilitator role which is in my opinion one of the most complicate and hardest role. Here, you have a list of the different roles and a picture of every member of the group in which you can see the roles of my colleagues:

·         Inma Álvarez: Facilitator.

·         Carmen Carpena: Journalist.

·         Julia Egea: Analist.

·         María García: Translator.

·         Ana Góngora: Helper.

·         Lucía Grau: Curator- Farmer.

·         Mari Carmen Molina: Star.

As we can see, the main responsibility the facilitator have is to facilitate and to collaborate with the other roles. From my point of view, all the roles are really important to complete the activity and without any role we wouldn´t be able to achieve the work. Moreover, each one has some characteristics and are really different from the other roles.
However, this role is the most challenging because you are the “boss” of the group and you have to try to do the best as possible. Besides, if there is any problem with any members of the group and there is a misunderstanding among some members you have to intermediate in order to sort out the problem. So, you have to be as the “psychologist” of the group.

This week has been a strange week. I tell you… First of all, we met on Tuesday to do the new activity which was about Creative Commons and how to do a good slide share and an oral presentation. We read all the information that Linda gave us and we also saw all the videos she recommended to us. Then, I shared out the different slides every member had to do about the 20 tips and creative commons. When we decided how to do the slide share and we had decided the topic, we did the storyboard.  We put together all the slides every one did. Therefore, at the end of the night we had almost the whole work finished. We were really proud of us because it was the first time we did the activity in just a day.
However, we went to the Linda´s class on thursday in order to check the work we did (lucky for me we did it) because we did the storyboard completely wrong thus all the slide share was wrong too. Every time Linda asked us a question, we realised more and more that the slides did not have nothing in common. So, unluckily, we had to meet at the week-end to finish and to do the slides again.
I expect the next time we go on improving and learning about our mistakes.
See you next week.
                                                                                                                                              INMA.
